Getting started

She Plays Football exists to help you become a better footballer. This doesn’t just happen overnight it takes time, effort, dedication and of course practice. It is not a tick box excercise where you have completed something and moved on to the next thing, you have to master things by repetition.

You need to practice daily. It has to be fun. you have to feel like you are getting better.

We tell everyone to start by doing the things they enjoy, whether that is keepy-ups, dribbling, shooting or diving to make saves or whatever you like doing. However, it is important that you push yourself and don’t just do the things you are good at.

Everyone learns differently and has different strengths and weaknesses and there is no one method that will make you the next Leah Williamson. It has to be right for you as the individual.

We have a lot of training drills for you and we would encourage you to try them all over time. To make the most out of She Plays Football we would suggest that you do the following:

  • Make a list of your strengths and weaknesses
  • Speak to your parents/guardians and your coaches and discuss what you need to work on, add that to your list
  • Visit our training drill pages and use the search function to find drills that meet your list
  • Go to each video and add it as a favourite so that you can come back to it next time you are on the site

  • Watch the video
  • Grab a ball and go and practice the drill, watch the drill again while you are practicing and listed to the guidance given by the coach
  • Master the drill and then rate the drill for others to see which ones have a real impact

Of course, the above is specifically for you and that is important but we also have some really great features on She Plays Football not just the traiing drills. We would encourage you to follow us on our socials as we will be posting daily to give you inspiration not just the drills but also content featuring your favourite players and with inspiration from top coaches.
